Default How to best spin engine without starting?

My '90 has been sitting for 3 months. I want to take it out for some exercise. Occurs to me that it might be best to spin the engine a bit before firiing to get the oil moving. With two distributors and lots of potential for messing up the elctronics, I am uncertain as to what to disconnect. Or should I just start the car?

3 months, fire it up. Take out the fuel pump fuse or FP relay and crank to build up oil pressure, then put em back and start.

When I do an oil change I just remove the fuel pump fuse and spin her on starter to fill the filter and get pressure up. But that's after fitting a new filter - I don't see a problem with just starting her after sitting for 3 months.

The oil pressure builds immediately. It probably won't start right away and you'll get a few revolutions that way.

No worries.

Stratford shark when you do an oil change its a good idea to prefill the oil filter with oil, this will limit the amount of time it takes for the pump to make pressure

I would pre prime the fuel rail by turning the ignition onto the run position a couple of times and then fire it up.

My 1990 sits for months at a time and I disconnect the battery to preserve it. It usually start first time.

I just started a EFI car that had sat for a few year, so in this instance I removed the spark plugs, clean and adjusted them to the correct gap, put a few squirts of lub oil down the plug holes, rotated the engine via the starter motor to prime the fuel rail and circulate the lub oil throught the engine and the oil down the spark plug holes to seal the piston rings.

I put it all back together and it started first time, fired straight up.
