It's a bad idea, besides being illegal, You will not gain much of anything by doing so!

I think we need to change the legislation regarding Catalytic converters. The technology is evolving rapidly and new ones get better and more efficient every year. Coupled with after market injection, any old car can be made clean. Certainly way cleaner than when it left the factory. With this technology, you could remove thermal reactors (air pump) and various old smog devices which made old cars run poorly. Start a new industry, increase performance and clean up the air at the same time.

Best of both worlds, run clean and no power loss, my car uses 2 and is clean and sounds great.
