1990 928S4 Option codes
Hi all. I'm trying to identify the option codes on my 1990 928S4 as listed on the sticker under the carpet below the rear hatch. I googled this and found several websites that listed the option codes and explanations for every option code listed on my car's option sticker except 458 and 588. Can someone please tell me what these two option codes are? Thank you in advance. John Doak in Baltimore, MD Johnhuntd@Comcast.net

458 is 16" alloy wheels, 588 I have no idea.
This site will give you most of the options, if you haven't seen it already: http://www.kindel.com/porsche/options.asp
Is this car new to you?

It seems odd, but my option sticker in the back does not match what is on the bill of sale (essentially the window sticker).
For example:
My car was originally Cassis Red Metallic (extra cost option) and is listed as such on the bill of sale. However, my sticker has the code "98" which means 'Custom Non-Metallic Paint'... BUT IT IS METALLIC. (?)
The "98" code also signifies 'Standard Porsche Leather Interior (deviating std color combinations)' -yet my bill of sale states "INTERIOR TO SAMPLE", "FULL LEATHER INTERIOR" & "LEATHERETTE PIPING".
According to that website I should have code "99" instead of "98".
What gives?

Barry my car also has one of those discrepancies. In my case the window sticker and the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity are not as accurate as the sticker in the back.
I wonder if the Cassis Red was not offered in 88 and was a special order color. Same could apply to your interior.

Afshin, I have the '88 "Colors and Interior Trim" brochure for the 911 Carrera, 911 Turbo & 928S4. It shows F9/Cassis Red Metallic to be 1 of 9 'Special Colors' -all metallics. And, 'F9' doesn't even show up on the sticker.
That website states code "99" to be 1. Custom Metallic Paint & 2. Leather Upholstery To Sample.
Codes "928", "910", "L80D", "128-1888", "USS", "M2842-81J", "A2812-" all don't exist on that site.

I have viewed several option code lists before, but not until today the one linked above, kindel.com.
It shows my heretofore uncoded 09991 as "manufacture from the exclusive-programme". Can anyone tell me what that means? ('90 GT).

Probably relates to the current "Exclusive Program" like on the Panamera & other models. Essentially, there are different materials; colors; options; etc. that are not part of the 'regular' purchasing system. Celebrity cars or those with special trim (Afshin's Rootwood interior inserts) would have most likely been born from this program.

I was curious about my option codes as well and checked this site after you mentioned it.

L80D = Cassis Red, your exterior paint code
L998 = Special order color from an older Porsche
L999 = Special order color to customer sample
98 is your custom made leather interior. Got any pics?

Some time ago we had a thread here where we researched all the unknown option codes. I think we were able to figure out most of them, except the 5-digit ones:

It was a California car that ended spending a lot of time in Texas and Florida -so the interior was baked beyond repair... and it had been a smoker's car at one point.
I used 'was' as I am subtituting the pieces from a '91 model of different colors.
Thanks for helping with the codes!
