Oh, hell, I know that! I have thought about it REALLY!!! If I had a job, I would have already sent someone from this list out to look at it and drive it for me and would probably have bought it already!!!

Do I need to go look at this car for somebody? I'll be down east that way a bit tomorrow. I don't need the car but can verify details and take better pix for sure if there's a real interest. Would I embarass the owner if I drove over in my S4?

I called the seller just a while ago and got the VIN, ran an Autocheck and it is definitely a "ZZZ"/ROW car. From what I've read here there are TWO ROW models, only one of which is the Euro S (310 + HP, etc.). Distinguishable by engine code and twin distributors? Seller is a nice enough guy, but not into Porsches. He's liquidating his "collection" of 8 or 10 cars, mostly American muscle of one sort or another. He says everything works on the car, including AC. Original paint and he bought it because he couldn't resist the looks.
This car does have prior California registration, which supposedly handles the bugaboo about getting a grey market model legal in this state. The Autocheck report confirms Danglerb's report history of a LOT of smog failures, but it has been registered in Cali since 1996. Autocheck won't guarantee the title, and lists it as "grey market" though.
I don't really need another car--I really can hardly handle the one I have--but I was thinking if this is really a no-brainer, I could buy it to take it off the market and then sell it to someone in the community who would make good/proper use of it. I suppose there's a chance I have terminal 928 sickness and will fall in love with ANOTHER one, but pretty unlikely. I wouldn't want to do this unless it was a pretty sure shot that someone else would want to buy it back fairly soon.
Am I being naive, foolish...stupid?? All the above?
Apparently the seller is getting lots of calls from people who obviously don't know the cars and certainly wouldn't take care of it, but at that price it's not going to be around for long.
Maybe we should caravan down! That would either impress him, scare him, and/or raise the price!
Let me know if you want to ride out there together tomorrow on a fact-finding mission.

84 to 86 were the 310HP Euro S engines and if the freaking A/C even works on this car...holy crap. This car is likely to be a BIG WINNER for someone! I have paid more for parts cars than this guy is asking! They didn't have working A/C's either! Someone buy this car FOR ME...PLEASE!! Pretty please! I'll be your BEST FRIEND FOREVER!

Stephen--
Let's see who's actually interested in owning it. I'm in the same spot-- don't want to see it get lost, but don't want it in my driveway either. One keeps me plenty busy.
Anybody?
