I forgot Blue82 has custom plates too (you can see them in the 928 EVOLUTION DVD) but Blue82 was to long and Blu82 was taken, so I went with 82Blu...last name first in this case I guess!
Mine says JOYRIDE
I'm thinking it would be better to have something obscure so when passing a cop going the other way he won't have such an easy time remembering it. something like I1I11I1 but what's the fun in that?
My first two choices was something like UR2SLOW and IFLYLOW but they didn't give it to me.
john that is a picture off the net that mine will look like when she is cleaned up or resprayed been left for 9 yrs before i got the car its a none runner i think i will have to get some of my own pictures on here so as not to confuse people sorry mate
Lucky people !! The goverment here took a dim view of custom plates, but then realised they could make a lot of money selling plates from cars that had been scrapped, these being desirable, low number/letter combinations.
Now thay have auctions to obtain the best prices.
The UK press car "THE 928S" plate was up for sale some while ago, for some thing like 10,000GBP.
I see 928 S is available here at the moment, perhaps if I win the lottery :-)
I was offered THE928S for GBP1000 about 8 years ago by a guy I met on the beach at Sandbanks near Poole, Dorset. Maybe I should have taken up the offer.
Luckily living in OZ I get the privilege of having 928SE on the 928SE for about 300US and RH928 on Rhonda Holdsworth's 928 GT for 200 US. Unfortunately 928GT wasn't available . A bit like the UK the plate is in use and thus the person that has it can sell the car that it is on (to sell the plate). Unlike the UK if you let the rego expire here in NSW you loose the rights to the plate.
I have a set of original 1929 Ohio Plates on my Ford Model A which I restored and had reissued to the vehicle instead of the Historic Plates. It took a LONG time and a lot of searching to find a matching number pair of plates in good enough condition to restore.
and the Jeep (which my wife told me I didn't need) is VRBOTEN
