Default Alternator part help

I am renewing my cooling shroud hose on the 86.5.

I noticed part 7 from the diagram below is plugged in but dangling. It looks like the tab on the box end should attach to a bolt.

Should I attach or is it fine to dangle and what the heck is it ? Lol

thanks

yes the elex part should be screwed to the rear of the alternator so the cover fits and its not blocking the airway

That is a noise suppresor. I know the 85+ cars had one in the fusebox making this one redundant.

So you can just unplug it. Or reattach it. Either way is fine.

Thanks Colin and Merlin....

Figured it was a supressor as it says "amp" on the plugged in end. Better safe than sorry.

Appreciate the speedy response!
