How different are these 85-86 models compared to the 86.5. I know the 86.5 has the S4 brakes, S4 Suspension and S4 Exhaust. How hard is it to retrofit any of the above and which ones are worth doing?

Thanks!

Michael

This one is nice inside, but has a cheap exterior paint job where they just masked off all trim. Basically, the edges will flake off sooner or later, and you'll have to redo the whole thing right - which costs about $10k to do.

Nicole how do you determine the paint has been refinished??did you call them??
It looks original to me including the rear letters that are dried out and possibly filled with compound, a little bit of heat and PB blaster should have the old letters off and fresh paint underneath.
Sunroof looks low in the back.
too bad its not an 86.5, it does look good though

I would be curious to learn as well.

Thanks,

I also can't see it......I am (or used to be) VERY picky...& the only "flaws" I see in this car are the aftermarket stereo amp install I don't like, & the rear hatch is slightly out of alignment.......which could be from not being closed all the way..I also don't like the rear speakers & 1 side rear 1/4 panel has a slight shrinkage to it

On the good side the paint looks VERY good to me...all the rubber trim looks good..the factory leather dash looks GREAT....it looks like a clean car in very good condition with a rare color combo...

maybe she was referring to another one like this one,
clearly done in by a careless painter

I did see a little issue on the front passenger side spoiler; I also saw some aging at the driver side A pillar and 2 nicks on the front of the driver front fender (I think it was driver side).

Man, that is all the money for an '86, but it one of the nicest '86's I have seen in a LONG TIME! Well, for sale anyway. We have a MUCH nicer 86.5 here in town that I see pretty frequently...

I didn't see a paint issue either, but might have just missed it. The interior is FIRST CLASS all the way! Agree the amp install is crap and should be removed or at least done MUCH better... I could live with it as is easily though! Very nice!

I agree since Nicole does have a good eye for detail......

Pictures only can tell so much.....but these pictures are well presented...far better than the typical fleabay ad

Look around the bottom edge of the rear spoiler, above the key hole - looks like the whole edge was masked. Also look at the edge along the spoiler piece running up the hatch on the driver's side - looks like overspray onto the spoiler piece. Could be just bad pictures, but it looks like a respray/mask job to me. Not necessarily a bad thing either, especially if you are looking for a presentable driver, but I wouldn't pay a premium for it.

They are looking for premium bucks, so if it is in fact a respray that was not done in a premium manner then that would detract by several $$$$ to the value of the car.

Interesting. The spoiler on the hatch-driver's side looks like a reflection to me, not overspray. I do see what you are saying above the keyhole.

This car was in storage for 9 or 10 years so I'm not sure if that's respray or original paint failing.

Nonetheless, I've asked for details as to whether it's been repainted or not. We'll see!

Some of you have way better eyes than me, I can see nothing wrong with the paint, just shadows.

Awesome looking example inside and out. Make a very nice car for someone.

Only thing that really stands out to me is that none of the S/N stickers are on any of the fenders or other locations which would lead me to believe a respray. The paint looks good in the pics, trim looks tired, interior looks nice but its hard to say if its been sprayed to hide age. The car really needs to be seen in person by someone who knows these cars to determine if its the real deal.
