Need help with door lock repair
on my 78 the PO had replaced the ps door lock, but did not re-key it to fit the same key as the rest of the car. I have removed the cylinder from the car, but can not figure out how to ge the locking cylinder out of the whole assembly.
I am hoping that once i have the lock apart, I can file the pins down or switch some around, to get the original key to work.
Thanks,

The tumblers are held in with pins on either side of the cylinder. The SOP when you don't have a working key is to use a hack saw to make a shallow, angled cut adjacent to the pin, then use a sharp chisel or razor knife to pry out the pin. When I did my '90 S4 I clamped the cylinder in the vise with one pin pointed up, then insert the key and turn to it's limit. Have someone hold the key turned while you use a small pin punch to drive the pin into the cylinder body. When the key has the tumblers turned to their stop it aligns a hole in the tumbler assembly with the retaining pin in the cylinder body allowing the pin to be driven in. Once the pins are driven in use the key to extract the tumblers. When you are ready to re-assemble you wil need to either get new pins from your local locksmith or make them out of suitable sized nails. There is a good write-up on the 928.org.uk site at this link http://www.928.org.uk/resources/75-i...928-locks.html
