Available on eBay. Anyone have or used one before? A bit pricey for me, but it would be a nice thing to have for L-Jet folks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Auto-...item1c0ef8e4d9

With all the dealerships closing these are available cheap for many models of US cars, and many of those share more than a few characteristics with the Bosch unit. I've been thinking of buying one for my Mustang for $50 or so and then making an adapter cable to use it with the Ljet.
Basically the device is called a Breakout Box, plugs into the harness from the car on one side and into the brain on the other, and gives access to all the signals either with an array of test points, or in the case of this Bosch it routes some of the signals to lights and/or a switch to a single test meter. Modern versions digitize all the inputs and outputs and do some intelligent analysis to show what is or isn't working.

For me, wiring a stereo yes, reworking a diagnostic box, never.
If any L-Jet members want to share/share costs on one of these "break out boxes" , count me in. Not for 800 buckaroonis though. Maybe I will toss in a low ball on that one. I know the Bosch Motronic version is quite rare.
