Default Exterior Wheel Weights

New user, new 928 owner!

My recently purchased 78' is missing both front adhesive wheel weights. I do not know what size/weight to buy? Need help. Ron-

Sorry to tell you this but you will have to take the wheels in to have them properly balanced. There is no way you can really guess as to how much weight or where it goes without a wheel balancer. Joe

Those front weights could have been taken off to balance the wheel/tires last time it was done.

These weights aren't something you put on. They are put on by the place that balances your tires.

Default Thanks for replies

Man it is going to be a long year........

I actually filled my tires to maximum psi, and the car definately rode smoother. It would definately help if I was an auto mechanic with a 928 habit. I am a novice learning from the beginning, and enjoying every minute of it. Again thanks for the replies.... I actually got the answer from a kid from Auto Zone hahaha. Maybe I need to be on the 928 for dummies forum?

By inflating to maximum pressure, what pressure do you mean? Hopefully not the max pressure on the tire's sidewall.
Good luck and welcome,
Dave

NOOOOO, don't do that. Air your tires to the Porsche recommended specs, ie. in owner's manual or inside gas cap.

Take it to a tire shop and have the wheel/tires balanced properly. They should strip all the weights off then spin and balance the wheel/tire adding weights as needed (rarely in the same places).

Not the sidewall, that's the max pressure and what porsche recomends is only accurate for the tires that the car came from the factory. To be sure, you can contact the manufacture and look up the recomended hot/cold operating pressure OR start with 35psi in all four corners and adjust it intull the car handles to you liking but don't go near/over the sidwall pressure.

My mistake.... I usually use 32psi front and 36psi rear. You are correct it's stated in the manual, as I have it my hands right now. Not on the sidewall.
