Hi

I've opened up my AC switch today.

Couple of questions:

1/ Does anyone know the correct value of the resistor? (arrowed), mine is all burnt and crispy.

2/ The bulb is 16v not 12v. Is this correct?

Thanks.

Never mind.

The resistor is burnt but still functional.

It appears from live tests that the bulb receives 7v when the switch is off and 12v when it's on.

This would cause a problem with replacing the bulb with an LED because it would never go off, as KenRudd found out.

They maybe used a 16v bulb so it would last longer.(?)

Anyway I replaced the bulb with an LED but rigged it so it only made an electrical connection when the button was pushed in. I've lost the tiny amount of button illumination when the AC is off but I've now got supper blue illumination when the AC is on to match my other dash lights. I am happy with this.

The photo doesn't do it justice - it really is super blue!
