For the curious, that's the same as a US 78-79 CIS intake

I'm not sure if it's worth taking off but let me know! The whole motor is available not that it's worth much, it was rear ended.

Leave the intake, but the wur and fuel distributor might be nice for somebody (not me).

**** Hey and that fuel line to the fuel dist Fabio needs. The one that goes off toward the front a little then over the heads to the side.

Thanks for thinking of me. If only this one was known about last week. I had Roger order me a new one from Deutchland last week.

Mark,

Leave the intake on the car or the rain will get in the engine. I have a spare 79 intake that will be available after my other one is powder coated if anyone local needs one.

I keep seeing pictures of nice powder coated and polished intakes. Is it a big deal to take of the spider (plenium) and have it powder coated? I assume it comes right off and then would imagine a good idea to put on new silicone bits. Is it something a novice can handle or is there springs and pins and other unknowns inside that will fall down, pop out, get lost? Or any other recalibration I need to be aware of (I'm thinking what it was like to mess with carburetors back in the day. As soon as you took one off, it needed all kinds of tweaking when going back on. float, jet, idle, etc.)

Any idea on approx costs for powder coating or plain polishing in NJ area (where everything is double the price of everywhere else

Anyone know of a good shop in Northern NJ or is this something I sent out of state?

Lastly, Which is looks and lasts better, Polishing or powder coating?

No springs or pins. You will need to take the injectors out of the legs. The PC shop should be told to grind and polish the parts smooth before PC'ing.

Regarding which is better or nicer. Thats a matter of personal taste. I prefer the polished look but that is probably the hardest or most costly to do and you also have to maintain it. Rennlist member TV has a really nice one, you should contact him for details. Randy V. had one jet-hot coated in silver a few years ago and it still looks great today. PC'ing looks great and there are lots of color options. It's really up to you.

Thanks. What range should I expect to pay to have a specialist powder coated vs. the approx cost to have it polished?

This will add 10 to 15 HP right?

No idea on the cost in NJ. Prices vary widely. Maybe $300 - $500 There are alot of pieces to prep for a spider.

Hmm, More $$$ then I thought. That's gonna have to wait. Seat foam restoration is next on my list and perhaps a hot cam set up down the road.

Only if it's red.
