front suspention question
so i will be doing my big brake conversion in the next few weeks and i have a few questions. i looks like my upper Ball joints are stock so im going to get the 928m kit to replace them, but the lowers look ok, other then crappy boots. the are the steel ones (magnet sticks just under the joint) so that looks good..
is there any special way to test the lower joint? i wanted to take the knuckle and hub off for cleaning should i just replace the lowers anyway? id rather not if i dont have to. being that i dont want to mess up my alignment.

I think you really one need one new eccentric each side, one old one is re-usable...but dont quote me. The other part that is usually quoted as needed is the lower shock attachment - this is ONLY because the steel ball joints are thinner at the bolt holes, and there is excess thread hanging down if you use the original shock mounts. If you can either live with the bolts sticking down (likely to get hit and threads damaged), OR cut the excess off without removing the mount (ie on the car), you can save a lot of extra work pulling the shock bottom off to release the mount, and refixing the shock to the new mount.
YMMV.
Usual test for ball joints is to lever the bottom joint body UP to look for movement in the joint, lever the top join DOWN looking for movement. Not sure how much is too much though?
