Default oil leak pulling motor

5 years or so when I got my '81 it had multiple oil leaks. These were from front and rear cam tower seals, cam tower gaskets, p/s resivoir, etc. Not having any history I pulled motor, resealed motor, cleaned engine bay (a real mess),serviced trans, bled and renewed brake fluid and installed new pads.

A few years ago the passengerside cam tower developed a small leakwhich of course ran directly onto rear exhaust. I okied this leak with a 'channel' of rtv silicon to rerout the seeping away from exhaust. This worked well although it did mean oil was now being spread on rear motor area (not bad, just not bone dry anymore)

Took car to sharktoberfest this year and no problems there or back. Car sat for about two weeks and when driven again a new leak had formed. This one is on the driver side rear cam tower. Cam shaft seals on both sides are bone dry, just the paper thin tower gaskets have given up.

Has anyone experienced this before? I am pulling motor out to redo the cam tower gaskets, as I do not want to okiee this side and leak is worst. (also will clean bay again, renew coolant, brake fluid, p/s fluid, etc.
I am wondering if I can do this without doing the cam tower seals )I think so if I remember correctly), and if anyone has used yamabond for the cam tower gasket as I do not want to do this again.

There is also a small amount of rad fluid in the valley, I think this is from water jacket seal at front but will know more on tear down.

While motor is out I am thinking of sending injectors off for refurbish. Any suggestions on where to send, or is there new I can get that will not 'break the bank'?

You might want to start another thread on this since it is OT and buried in the bottom, but go here:

Motor is out and on stand, the only problem was with the fuel injector harness. About half of the ends broke while trying to remove, guess 5 more years of use made them brittle enough. Has anyone found/sourced the electrical ends of the harness? Anyone just plug them back in and not worry about it? If so how's it working out?

Anyone used yamabond for the cam tower gaskets?

Many have apparently used yamabond with great success, though I have not had to do this particular work on my shark. poke around using the search function for information on removing the valvetrain, and you'll be bound to run into it. Also I believe that carl at 928 motorsports sells new harnesses (not used) that are made to a higher standard than OEM. Again, I've not used them, but IIRC they're cheaper than OEM. Of course, you could always convert to some other fuel/ignition setup at this point since you have the unit out. If you have ever considered doing it, I would say now is the time, while that beast is up and out of the cave. Good luck!

Hey joejoe, I am going to send my injectors off to this guy the price seems good if you want to keep the injectors you have. www.cruzinperformance.com . To test, clean and redo o-rings is around $17.00 each.

I used Witchhunter to clean my injectors. VERY happy with result and they were super fast.
