Perhaps do a cold compression test, and look for consistency across all of the cylinders...?

Hope this helps

BTW, what is a cotter pin?
Cotter pins we've got! Heck, if it weren't for cotter pins and baling wire I think our little ranch would fall completely apart.

BTW thanks for giving me the opportunity to FINALLY contribute something on Rennlist.

That's a real nice workbench you got there Cheryl! I, of course, do not use mine for a workbench but strictly for storage. Tell your hubby hello for us up here!

Something fell in and you got it out , go ahead and RUN IT......you already need to do head gaskets so what do you have at risk at this point ? No way that has anything to do with the piston rings.

Thanks for your suggestions! I was most worried about the little irregular idle, but I'll check that in spring. I just pushed the car in the garage and follow your advice, James: Just drive it:-)
For now, winter has fallen litterally, with piles of snow. I'll flee for two months to warmer places on the earth and then enjoy the Shark when I return.
BTW, the spark plug looks fine; just similar to all the others...
