The most likely causes for the starter turning over slowly include:
- Battery charge low. Possible causes include a loose alternator belt (it should be REALLY tight). Cure is tightening the alternator belt and charging the battery. You can use jumper cables to start the engine afterward if necessary, but charging the battery is better.
-Dirty or loose battery cables (this includes both ends of the flat ground strap and the ground strap under the engine). Cure is cleaning all of the battery cable ends, large and small.

Check the power steering fluid level - use Dexron ATF, not power steering fluid. I wouldn't cut the belt, as pump failure is not too likely.

Thanks for the advice. I will do that later in the week and keep you guys advised. It's a real "love/hate" thing with these cars, isn't it?

I can't wait to love mine again! Just have to stop it from pissing all over the floor...

I would not recommend bumping it with the starter. GEt the socket and good luck.

Why not? Because of instant jolt? If the plugs are out, the straing is very little.

Unless something has seized.

I wouldn't bump because it's a lot less controlled in a situation where there's already lots of questions.
