Default Newbie intro

Hello all,
I've been reading this forum for a few months now and I can't get enough.
Finally getting a shark [1986] - its still on the way. Ran across a 928 ad while looking on craigslist for a second car. Then I remembered my jaw dropped when I saw one back in the early 80s. Now I can actually afford one. So I got one, but I couldnt wait and rushed into one. I've also been reading the Lang book over and over. Ron

Welcome to the group, bought off CL without inspection huh? Please take some video of the arrival, could be classic material. For free pre delivery jabbing, post a link to the old CL ad.

Everybody has to jump in sometime, and it isn't always pretty, but its usually fun once you get used to the water.

BTW you need to give some thought to your user name, have you tried to pronounce RSE?

Welcome, Ron!

Since you have been reading this forum before you bought, then you should have been well-armed in selecting a keeper. Hopefully you had a qualified 928 mechanic perform a PPI - as we all recommend as the first step in any 928 purchase.

Welcome Ron! You've got a great "support group" there in TX. It will add to the ownership experience.

Thanks for the welcome.
The 928 from CL was the first one I looked at, but I didnt buy it.
It had no accelleration at all - it was slower then our 4 cyl camry.
I saw 3 others. Two of them were described as flawless but I found
out the hard way, that can be an exageration. The 3rd one was very beat up.
The one I got was an impulsive unplanned buy. I saw it for auction on ebay/fleabay?
with an hour before expiration and I put an auto bid in for $3700. No PPI and no contact
with the seller. I didnt really think I'd win (by $50). I'll have a PPI done and see if it can still do what it used to do a long time ago.
It should be getting here this weekend and I'll take some pictures and also post what I got.

My username, ya, I thought that would be a login ID. I'll change it to
my real name if I can.

I'll meet some Austin 928'ers this weekend, and look forward to more shark talk with all of you. Thanks again,

Ron

Great entry technique.

PPI on the first one is strictly for the risk-averse, linear-thinking overachievers.

You'll have plenty of time to make better buys on successive cars.

Good call Landseer! I agree. I looked at and drove my first one but didn't PPI it... Been a great car too! Actually, I am not sure you could call ANY of my check ups PPI's on ANY of my 9 928's (the 7 current plus the 2 that became parts cars).

Ron, we are looking forward to meeting you this weekend. I'll be the guy in the wheelchair, so I should be pretty easy to spot!

Welcome to the tank Ron. I am fairly new myself, only having bought my first in March of this year.

You have found the right place to get your new purchase ship shape. The knowledge here is terrific and the folks ain't bad either.

Can't wait to see the pics.

Mike
