My weekly Harbor Freight mailer has a 7-function precision DMM at the preferred-customer sale price of $1.99. The in-store sale price is $2.99. Limit is 5. Regular price is $7.99. Grabbed a few as give-aways for owners' clinics here. I figure that all the smoke can leak out of them and I'm still out less than $10 for the case.
I suppose others wonder as I do how a product like that can be designed, manufactured, tested, shipped to the port, loaded on the ship, shipped, unloaded from the ship, trucked to the warehouse, unloaded there, warehoused, loaded on a truck again, trucked to the store, unloaded, stored there, stocked to the shelf, advertised, and checked out/sold to me for less than $2 each. And everybody who touched it, except me, made money. Lose on every sale, make it up with volume?
