Default Ball joint stiffness?

How stiff should the ball joints be on the upper A arms and lower control arms? I bought a used set earlier in the year, and I'm just wondering if I should just go for rebuilt? The used set seem pretty stiff to me, more stiff than the components I am replacing - they require a bit of effort to move, but I'm able to do it just by hand. What has been the experience with new/rebuilt ball joints?

My experience with rebuilt ball joints: pretty/very stiff. Requires moderate force to move, but still can be done by hand - eg press hard with your thumb. Moves slowly.

+1 what Aryan wrote. Ball joints should be nice and stiff. If they flop around chances are they'll vibrate/move/bonk when loaded and being driving on.
