Window tint film
The tinted film on the rear hatch has peeled next to the third light. I want to remove whats left myself, as I don't want the rear window defroster screwed up. Does anyone know how to remove the film without damaging the defroster wires on the glass? Thanks, Joe

Thanks guys both ideas sound good. I think I'll try the steamer first. I'am going to have the windows done over, I just didn't want to have an issue with the defroster cause the window tinter damaged it taking off the old film. Thanks again, Joe

Thanks Tony, thats almost word for word what Abby said. I'am going to back my shark out tomorrow and let it sit in the sun, while I do the plastic bag and soap trick. As you know it got cold here last couple of days, I could use one of Dee's sun lamps from the salon if its to cold tomorrow. Once again thanks to all for all of the help, Joe.

I had to peel mine off as well, I ended up scratchign a bit of the glass. This guy had the car setting for so long ans the tint material was going nowhere, no matter what I did, I needed to use some force. Not a big deal really, the back panel glass pieces needed replacement anyways.

Was it part of a thread or did you make a thread about it? It helps when a specific thread is made about somehting like this that is good tip. If not the someones answer can be buried in pages of replies and static.

I thought I had started a thread about it a loooong time ago. I do have posts in 3 of the threads on the list you posted though.

Most every tint uses a water based glue. Gently peel off as much of the plastic top layer of tint as possible, not damaging the window defroster. Then get a warm bucket of water and a sponge. wipe off small section of window. You should see glue film begin to melt and you can then wipe off.
