Oil in throttle body

Default Oil in throttle body

1981 4.5 3spd auto i went to take of the air intake completely and took out the throttle body and there is thick oil residue on top of the block and oil in were the throttle body connects to the engine (sorry i am a noob) can anyone tell me what could be wrong sorry about the condition of the pictures

I think this is what blowback is - I have this with my 78 as well. The early engines are far worse than the later ones imho. The oil somehow travels thru the vent hose that goes to the airbox, then seeps down into the tb. 928 Specialists sells a vent kit that eliminates this issue.

assuming its never been cleaned, I'd say thats not that bad............when the oil filler neck leaks into the valley you will get WAY more than that....we could SEE oil boiling at our 1st trackday in the lemons car

On an '81 that has never been cleaned thats good, i hav had mine from new, its spotless down there - but I have stripped it and cleaned out a couple of times !
