Undecided...What's the best SC kit for a '91GT?
What would be the best SC kit for my '91GT, weekend car (but often long trips), in your experience?( in terms of performance, reliability, cost). Do those kits really worth the extra cash on intercooler option? Please share some experiences, as I have to decide on one...Thanks!

As DRs TS isn't really ready for full sale the only option is th CS style.
Personally I would go with the Murf setup and would go with the IC for sure as you will want to up the boost later.

I've always thought that the 928's with lower final drives (2.2 or 2.54) should be twin screwed and the GT's and higher final drives (2.64 and 2.73) would be more amenable to the Vortech style supercharger..

I would take the 928 SP twin screw supercharger. No idea if and when it will be available again. Its been maybe 2 years now since it first came to market.
If it can be had in the next 3-6 months i would wait for it. But ive heard 6 months for awhile now and still nothing. Although Im in no rush, I dont have a car worthy of one at the moment but i would go with the twin screw. Very nice kit.

However, if you already have the GT and are looking to supercharge it, it depends on what you're looking for.
I have DR's twinscrew setup, and I do believe he is shipping these, despite what others say. The installation is a little bit more involved, but a cleaner installation IMHO.
As to performance, they are a little bit different. The twinscrew kit make less peak HP but higher torque across the power band. The result is that with the TS setup you can pull away for a while, but then the Murf kit will catch you. Then you shift and it starts over again. In the end, I think they are pretty evenly matched with maybe a slight edge to the Murf kit.
Here's a pic of my install.

Was an amazing car (performance wise) back in the '90s...Today with 330bhp and 1.6 tons even a mild tuned Golf GTI could put you in difficulty...I wonder what are numbers on SC GT (1/4 mile, etc) if anyone made some measurements. Let's face it: >300bhp today is easily achievable on many sc 2liter cars that are lighter than the 928. For instance an '07 Mitsubishi EVO will spank a GT really bad...not to mention the new Subaru WRX that left me into dust between stoplights...

0-60 in 3.799 sec amd 1/4 mile at 11.499 sec
Perhaps the biggest challenge with a SuperCharged 928 won't be the evo or the wrx but will be the excessive wheel spin...

While I agree that there are not too many GT's around and it would be nice to have them all original, it is up to the owner to do what is they want. If it was me, I would leave a 91 GT original and supercharge a S3 (like I am doing ) or an S4 as they are more plentiful.
At the end of the day, once supercharged they all perform pretty much the same. IMO000's Paxton Sc'ed 85 S3 5 speed ran almost dead even with a tweaked 996TT and runs mid 12's in the 1/4 on stock rear 225's. Tim Murphy's S4 is in the 11's as you can see.
No matter what you choose, all the 32V cars respond well to boost. With the lower gearing on a GT the Murf system is probably the best bang for the buck, easiest to install and can be reversed back to stock in a weekend and nobody would ever know.

You might as well consider a turbo option as well. http://kuhnperformance.com/products.php But since you asked if an intercooler was worth the extra money I doubt you are in the market for a turbo system.
All of the currently available forced induction systems are good in some way. They will all improve the performance of your car and put a smile on your face. I'd suggest calling each of the three suppliers and speaking with them before making a decision.

Considering the most historic 928 was gutted, turned into a race car and recently bouced off a couple of concrete walls......nobody should lose any sleep over supercharging a GT
