That looks like it's from a 1982 Buick LeSabre.

Shot in the fuzzy dark here (just finished "celebrating" my last nite in the UK after 7weeks here - back to OZ and my 928s tommorow) I think that's a late ie digidash dash. I could confirm on friday I think. I know this isn't the most positive response one could wish for but it's more on the right track than the rest.

Tongue in cheek. I know I'll probably recognise my 928s on friday but will I remember how to drive a rear wheel drive car with 250hp more than the 80hp fwd cars I've been driving for the last 2 months?

My GTS dash vent goes all the way across just like your picture, but the GTS and the 90 up all had the airbag too. I don't know what year they started like that though.

It is an '89 because it does not have air bags but does have the all the way across vents...

I didn't realize the Euro '90/'91 didn't get airbags! WOW! Learned something new today. That is why I guessed '89... I have an '88 and a '92 and knew that the US got bags in '90...hence logic would dictate that it would have been an '89 dash... Just didn't realized the Euro's didn't get the bags till the GTS!

not all ROW cars got the airbags. If you look at PET you will see this dash available till 1995 and i have personally seen it on cars though GTS.

Khaled,

Thanks much for that info! I had no idea! I wonder why Porsche did that??? Seems like it would cost more money (one more part to keep in hand) and decrease safety by not having an airbag. I wonder if those cars that got this dash DID get an airbag steering wheel???? Do you know?

Thanks again for the info Khaled!

Funny enough you mention that here is what happened in 1990+

- All North American cars has standard Airbags for passenger and driver
- ROW came in the following flavors: No Airbags, Driver Side Airbag Only or Driver and Passenger Airbags

Cars that had no airbag or airbag for the driver alone received the updated dash which addressed the cracking issue between the vents.

+1

The RHD cars got airbags much later than LHD, for some reason. You see quite a few GTS models from the UK without airbags.

Thanks ya'll! I will keep an eye out as I look at ROW car pics...in particular the GTS's. I have probably seen this and just didn't put it together that I was looking at a GTS interior w/o airbags! Very interesting.

So if the car didn't have a drivers airbag did it get the S4 style 4 spoke wheel?
