I am in the process of finding seat for my 1980 928. I think I saw in another post that only 97 below will work.

i'm not replacing original 928 seats with 928 - i'm looking at 911 seats - and i don't recall there is such a thing as a 97 - 928 seat.

edit - see next post from me -----

I think he was refering to 97 and older 911 seats.
I have no Idea which ones are a direct bolt in though I know a few have done it. hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in and help you with fitment suggestions.

Good luck

Yes, just read his post - and see he was refering to 97 and older 911 seats - as i have spare runners, motor assemblies and some 928 original seats, etc the only real question is fit - wil they, and how to rig the seat control buttons.

Yah. I was referring to 97 below 911 seats. Also, 944 should work too.

Seats from most other Porsche models can be retro fitted. Plugs are different and the 928 bolts might not fit the rails of some 911 and 986 seats. But with some splicing and sourcing of the right hardware, the seats should fit.

That being said, because they are a later generation seat and from a 911, does not make them better than the original 928 seats. Upholstery condition not withstanding. Just referring to the frame quality and construction.

Neil,

it will. You will need new bolts and some splicing will be involved. I have not personally seen this seat model in a an OB, but it should still work.

You should know that on this particular model, the whole bottom foam, and consiquently yourself, is supported by a plastic tray. A good portion of the sub structure in fact is plastic, screwed to plastic.
Definitely not as strong a construction as your original seats.

This is the same frame as the Boxster seats, and many here gained a renewed respect for the good old 928 seats when I showed both types, to the bare frames, at OCIC.

Still good seats, just not as good as the older Recaro

Update:
I purchased the seats, the passenger side has a 2 wire hook up, the drivers side has an ECU, I was able to download the 996 wiring diagram ( the seats are from a 2000 Cabriolet) then figured out what the German wording is on them and got it hooked up - requires more than just a 12v fed, some login involved.
Now have full seat control, plus the memory works when the seat is moved forward to allow access to the rear seats.
Now only have to install them. If anyone else is interested in the wiring hook up, PM me.

Sparco Milano Prestige... best seats ever. so comfortable, safe, simple, beautiful. i have Sparco Demons, a custom version based on the Milano Prestige with a slightly more durable leather in charcoal black on black... on modified, Recaro sliders. wonderful addition to my 968.

http://www.saferacer.com/sparco-demo...?productid=787

Chronos Roads for you bigger guys.

i did a write up on how to install Sparco's in Porsches.

https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...eir-944-a.html

i looked at all the Porsche stuff but just too expensive and really REALLY uncomfortable. Porsche sport seats from the 993 TTs are very nice also. but good ones run about $8k and my Sparcos were only about half that price.
