Default Torque Specs

I am replacing the cam cover gaskets on my 86 928s. the PO did a terrible job. Does anyone know the torque specs for the cam covers ( as well as the pattern for torque ) and also for the intake tubes. Thanks.

WSM says 7 ft lbs. I think the '86.0 still has those two piece valve cover bolt things, be careful getting them out:

Dunno exactly about the torque pattern, but I would assume you'd do the outer 4 corners, then diagonally around the outside, then the middles. (I'm extrapolating from the S4 covers...)

Don't forget the dab of RTV at each corner of the cover- This is probably why the PO messed up (?)

Just re-reading that thread I linked- I ended up buying two sets of the valve cover bolts that were made at the time. Looking at my pic below if looks like he supplied 10 long and 3 short bolts per set. Is that correct for 85-86.0 valve covers? PET seems to say 9 + 3. I know the 87+ is 4 short + 9 long per cover.

Thanks Rob, the PO tried several things on the car and best I can tell did none of them correctly. This is my first 928 and would like for it to be a good example. The interior is great and mileage low, so I should be able to put it back. Those bolts don't look like mine, my 86 is 9 + 3 but have cup washers and fiber bushing ( very expensive $ 7.00 each ), looking for a replacement. Thanks for the info
