Glad your alright. Seems like your getting a really good settlement. Unless you want the car for sentimental reasons having a salvage title IMO significantly reduces a resale. I would not buy a salvage title regardless of the documented damage......

The car is way too nice to not rebuild it. If you don't fix it, somebody should.
I would not pull any relays or fuses. Beyond perhaps serious legal and ethical issues, the car could easily end up being moved around with a forklift if it doesn't run.
Insurance company is obligated to use new parts, and two fenders, hood, and a bumper cover from Porsche add up to serious money fast. Chances are they priced it with a complete respray as well, since a metallic paint will be very hard to match at the fender / door line. The right shop might be able to reuse the existing parts and blend the paint leaving it original toward the rear for a perfect match to the rest of the car. In any case good used parts are just as good as new for all practical purposes.
Good luck.

Still waiting to see what the insurance company comes back with. I did have a chance to look up what shops were certified to remove the salvage title and certify it as a "re-build" and there are 4 in my small town so that's good.
4 pictures documenting the damage, a work plan and the VIN number off the car(s) that supplies the donor parts + full mechanical inspection should change the title from salvage to re-build.
928 international having a half off used parts sale - Merry Christmas - this thing might just come together.
FYI the rear master ground strap was removed to prevent the battery from draining - I also placed a note on the steering wheel NOT to start the car - there was some coolant leaking at the accident site and I'm not sure from where yet - or the level of coolant left in the engine.

As nice as this 928 is, even with a salvage title you should be OK. If in the future you were to sell it, you could show the "before" restoration photos to prove that it wasn't all that bad. I know of at least one 928 owner who got a smoking deal on a salvage title 928 that was a theft recovery and is enjoying the hell out of that car.

Shipping body panels from the US is insanly expensive. If you can find it locally or even in Canada (use Greyhound for shipping) go with that.

Looks like an easy fix to me. My 84 was in a similar incident before I got it. The PO had the damage repaired and was then unable to reregister the car because it had been written off as a total that was non repairable. The state of FL where he lived issued the car a COD ( certificate of destruction ) title so he had paperwork when they took the car to the junk yard. I had a hell of a time getting it registered after I got it, but was finally able to get it done. I do have a salvage title designation now but at least I can drive the car. Good luck with what ever you decide.

If I loved the car and the family seem's to feel the same way, I would take the money and get her back.
I don't see 15k damage, not even close.
Thank god that everyone is safe and unharmed!

Sorry to see another 928 damaged in Calgary - there are so few. Glad no one was hurt - most important.
The insurance offer was, in my opinion, quite good. This is based on a '90 GT being sold in Calgary a few weeks back for just under 11k$ Cdn - and in not bad shape (not as good as your appears).
If you do decide to get her back, you may wish to chat with South Centre Porsche - they may know of either a body shop that can match paint colours for you ... or even some body parts. A few damaged cars do end up there for check-out.
Best of luck

I tried to check out that GT on Monday as a potential replacement- I was told it was sold
As for South Center Fine Cars.....not my favorite shop - they and I do not see eye to eye. When I had an oil cooler line blow on Sarcee Trail I had the car towed to SSFC. They wanted $ 1200 for the lines + install. I handed them the lines to install (my cost = $ 450) and the installation was - less than ideal they won't touch my car again.
I have a high degree of confidence in the local body shop after performing 13K worth of work on my Nissan Frontier - As good as new.
I hope I get the chance to do the repair!
