Default Cam covers

I am replacing the gaskets, seals and refinishing the cam covers on my 1986 928s. All new stuff. The book call for new seal washer for the valve cover bolts, at a cost of about $7.00 each for 22 of them, is this needed or can I just use the old ones? The old ones just look like cup washers. Thanks

AutohausAZ has them and several other places, Part # 92810441702, seems very, very high. Don't plan on paying that, the cover gasket set with all the o-ring plugs and all wasen't but $135.00. 0.90 would be great. Thanks for any info

928Specialists has replacements for alot less, $1.75 each for washer and rubber seal. Check out under Browse by part Type, Camshaft. Part number is 928.104.417.02.928SP. I used them when I replaced my cam cover gaskets, work great.

You do need to replace the rubber gaskets, but you can reuse the washers. If you are really obsessive you can have them replated.

I just polished mine up and put them back on.

The bolts on this car were missing any rubber or fiber gasket, it was just a cup shaped washer. I assume the gasket goes between the cam cover and the cup washer. Thanks for any input. The PO poorly attempted several items on this car, hope to get it back to nearly original condition.

You have to have the rubber seals, otherwise oil would be pouring out of each bolt hole.
