Newbie from SA
Hi All!
I own a right-hand-drive 1985 928S Auto in Pearl White with navy leather. I bought 'Sabrina' ten years ago with 80 000km on the clock and have used it as my daily driver ever since. Sabrina has now clocked up, I think, about 450 000km, and the reason I say "I think" is that the odo has stopped working twice for a few months at a time before I got it fixed. I need to fix it again, but it officially stands at 404 660km.
Sabrina is now parked with leaking fuel hoses, and my daily driver has now become a new Toyota pickup, which is a hell of an adaption!!!!
However, this now gives me the opportunity to start doing the myriad of repairs that need to be done:
1) Replace fuel hoses
2) Sort out vaccuum system so that the heater functions properly
3) Sort out aircon
4) Auto box removal to replace all seals - major torque convertor oil leak
5) Drive shaft boot replacement
6) Odo repair
7) Replace front spoiler
8) Main beam and fog light lenses to be replaced - all sand blasted with age
9) Driver's side seat cover needs replacing
10) Dashboard and instrument binnacle cracked from the harsh SA sun.
And all this is supposed to happen between lots of other automotive projects and a business that is taking an unneccesary amount of time....

Welcome, Grant! Sounds like that 928 has given a tremendous amount of service. Great to know they are so strong. What have you done to keep it running? Are you wrenching on it yourself?Whatever you do, don't offer it for sale.
If you do, brother Jadz here will be plotting how to get it here from SA and somehow I probably will be helping him.

He seems to have a thing for perlglanzweiss. Wondering when he'll add a 951 also.

Welkom Grant.

Grant, Welcome! Very nice car. Yes, replace those fuel hoses as soon as possible. Far too many examples of peopl almost losing their lives due to engine fires in 928's with leaking hoses.
Thanks for the welcome, Chaps (and lady!)
That car is almost totally original, and yes, that is the factory paint.
I used to get the car serviced and maintained at Porsche specialists, and have thrown lots of money at the car over the last ten years to keep it in a good condition - far more money than the car is worth.
I don't know why I haven't worked on the car myself. I think I'm intimidated - I'm actually a qualified Merecedes mechanic, but I haven't swung spanners since 1991, well not professionally anyway. Over the last year or so I've started doing more myself, like renewing the waterpump.
Cheryl, I'm surprised you don't speak Afrikaans yet. I understand it's going to become Canada's next official language, what with all the Boere living there....
