Default Tire time: Nitto or Kuhmo?

Time to get some tires for the car. I am looking at Nitto and was wondering if anyone has experience with them. Sizes I am looking at are 275/40/17 and 245/40 (or 45)/17. If you have experience with these please let me know if they are quiet, ride well, and last for awhile. Second choice I am looking at are the kuhmo asx in same sizes. If anyone has experience with these your thoughts will be greatly appreciated also.

If your looking for a good tire in the lower half of the price spectrum, check out Hankook, they have gotten good reviews in a review i read a few months back in one of the major US car magazines

Also based on the review, i would avoid Nitto.

I'm running Conti's on my 80's, previously had Yokohama S-Drives. When I bought these tires, it was a toss up between the Conti's and the Kuhmo's. From what I read, the Conti's wore a bit better than the Kuhmo's, but the Kuhmo's had slightly better grip.

I'm running Sumitomo HTRZ-IIIs on my car. I like them a lot. Great bang for the buck. Seem to stay quieter much longer the the Z-IIs did.

I found the Nitto's better in the dry, but WAY worse in the wet. In fact it was sometimes scary to drive in the wet. I'd go with the Kumho's.

I put the Kumho ASX's on my '81 and liked them so much I got another set for my '84. They are a good all season tire.

+1, very nice tires at any price, and a very nice price.

I'm quite impressed with the Dunlop Direzza star spec Z1's ( or something long like that) that I use on the Lemons racer....nice grip for an inexpensive tire!!

another vote for the HTRZ-III's in the tire-per-dollar category.

Kumho's here and love them. Damn good tire for the price.

Liked the way the Yoko S-Drives ran but they wore way to fast, 8k (wifes car) and they were goners on the back end..

Had some BFG G-Force and they worked very well, had good wear.

Absolutely hate the Conti's, worst tire I've owned. Past 1/2 wear, noisy as hell and had no grip.
