Shawn!

I am still standing by for your maiden '24 Hrs of LeMons' race!

Yes, I was 'gone' for a while -- thanks for noticing.
You know -- Rennsport is only a year away again!

Keep those orchids pollinated, Amigo!

NICE

The curves on the GT2 are massive! And i love it with the graphics. I saw a red one a month back. I swear the 997 GT3's and GT2's look like totally different animals then the boring by comparison 997 and 997S

But, my current DREAM PORSCHE, is the so far as i know unreleased "997.5" GT3 RS which comes only in a slate, white or the new Aqua Blue, and only with i think red or white/gold wheels and decals. Notice the slightly larger front fender extensions?

I'LL TAKE AN AQUA WITH WHITE/GOLD PLEASE!

So far as i know these cars dont yet exist, ive only seen a web special on them but wow its cool! If i was ever going to order a new car, it would be in the individual program and would be something like the 993's turquoise Blue with white graphics with some charcoal and linen full leather and alcantara interior, with some exterior color matched bits inside the cabin.

But Porsche in their infinite wisdom, have nearly made the car i would order and its a standard color.

Let me find a pic

Indeed, it was fun!

Ryan -- here is another - just for you (OK, and me too!)

Tim -
If it wasn't for your avatar (have I told you lately I like it??) ... I might not have been there otherwise...
SHARKY did us both proud - well, heck no -- it's all about ME, now!

Truth be known -- I could have sold him twice last PM.
I think I'd rather part with (gulp) RSKY BIZ, first...

Everyone represents the 928, every time you drive one in public.
Get involved locally if it is your goal to share your love for the car... whatever model!

It's not just about the 928 -- it's about the people involved in the Porsche family!

Ryan-

Life must be treating you well in Hollywood, eh?
I mean, I was as tickled as could be with a recent ride in a Cup Car, at speed...
forget about ownership!

But, I admit, I have my dream visions on the horizon, as well. . .
It's good to dream... then earn your dream!!

OK, Ryan -- Just saw your added pics...

You are authorized to buy one for me... Definitely the 'gold' package over the 'red' one, with that blue body!

Boxster Spyder looks really cool, except...no A/C for 26 lbs, no Radio for 8.6 lbs, No Sale for me.

I've owned a really nice boxsterS and no a/c would be a real deal killer, just gets too hot here in OKC for no A/C for Me. And I pulled 120 lbs out of my BoxsterS and it made very little difference in lap times.

YEAH

BUT

GT2 sport Recaro buckets STANDARD

LSD STANDARD

19" wheels STANDARD

Aluminum doors

AND no fricking mechanical roof (at the highest point of the car mind you) I think it looks awesome. I just wonder whats under the roll bar humps where the roof usually goes? Maybe golf club storage?

And it looks like nothing else! Honestly I questioned the no ac and no radio. But in the history of Porsche cars, that gives this car even more appeal to me. Look at the past cars that came with no radio, with no ac, with minimalist door panels. They were typically very limited build, RS models.

I wondered what the red hooks were on the rear quarters, they are attachment points for the canvas tent top! THATS SO COOL!

The last time i went on Porsche's car configurator, I played with a boxster S and it came to like $80K

This car doesnt appear to have any options but PDK and PCCB. On this car i would go with the PCCB, just cause it would save like another 40lbs. But other than that, i dont think there are any options. Just exterior color choice, they all appear to come with black leather and alcantara interiors with color matched center console and dash trip (Which i also love and costs like $2,000 from porsche)

I actually think its really good value at $61,000

And it makes the previous special edition boxsters like the 2004 550 edition, and last years silver with red interior and the Porsche Design Boxster look really tame. And those cars had pretty large premiums last i remember.

Those recaro buckets, are like a $2,000 or more option, and are the COOLEST SEATS IVE HONESTLY EVER SEEN!

AND AND ...... its got the new Gen engines with no intermediate shaft and 2 piece case (not 4) and direct injection. And you can get it with PDK with a cool steering wheel with a launch control feature, but i would stick with the 6 speed honestly.

Curious, where did you get most of that weight out of? I have wanted to do a 3.6 986 for awhile and I would cut weight too, was 120 pretty easily removed?

Have you guys seen the soft top of that Bosxter Spyder??? It doesn't look like it is very useful.

I also wonder how many ounces they saved with the strap door openers.

Nicole, your missing the point. The Carrera GT has a hood too, does anyone use it? probably not.

Its there IN CASE OF EMERGENCY!

This car will sell great in California, colder climates, rainy areas not so much.

I don't mind the top thing. It looks very functional to me. Driving a Boxster S for years I learnd the top was only for rain and bitterly cold weather. The extra space were the top went is for Top Storage! Read the info on the car. Top stores in area above the rear luggage compartment.

GT2 was available with and without A/C. Removal was the only option and it was a no cost option. Shoulda done that with Spyder. No A/C sounds okay until that one day you are sitting in traffic with the top up to keep the sun off wishing traffic would move just so you could get some air.

Oh, and the fancy seats, LSD, and wheels as standard are very nicely reflected in the price.

I removed weight from my Boxster S for curiosity at an autocross event. Took out everything that would unbolt. Passenger seat, rear engine cover, spare, insides of front and rear luggage compartment, etc. Most of the weight was seat, engine cover, and spare/tool kit. I also siphoned the gas down to 1/4 tank. When i got back home I weighed all the stuff and it was 120 lbs.

Seats are incredibly heavy - particularly power seats with all their electric motors. How often do you really adjust them?

well if you want AC, i dont see why you cant buy that entire rear cowl cover. Its got to have a porsche number. Its probably $5000 - $7000 though. Plop that onto another 987 and youve got the look, but not the appeal that the spyder will give.

This is as close to an RS actually that ive seen in awhile since the 90's. They have limited appeal, mostly to hardcore fans.

I wonder how the new suspension feels in comparison to the PASM which is getting VERY GOOD
