Would that make this the cause of all of this? Do they go bad overnight like this?

What gets me is it's intermittent!

If I can get the diagnostic kit on it, it will be sorted what it is. I'll either rent John's or go to my local Porsche dealer and have them do it....

Yes. It can cause an overly rich condition. Mashing the pedal down all the way turns off the injectors allowing you to clear the overly rich (flooded) condition and then it will fire up. But becasue you idle swith isn't working, you get an eratic idle.

I asked about the cable becasue as it heats up , it will expand. If it's too tight when cold that can cause your issue - resolving itself when it gets hot.

I think Mrmerlin's suggestion is also a good one, but I don't think it would be intermittent like you advertise.

There is a test you can perform to see if the switch is activating, but I'm sick in bed and don't have access to my little flash drive. might try searching.

Yes I have searched and found the test.

My only contradiction to the wire being the cause is the fact that this has also happened during the day now, when it would be hot enough for it to be slack enough.

I'll start with a diagnostic, and post the results and work from there.
