Default LH?

I don't even want to post this, but my red 87 5-speed runs perfectly, except occasionally it will simply die. I can immediately restart it and it runs fine. Is this potentially a sign of an upcoming LH total failure?

There are no other symptons and there is no pattern to the dying. Happens once a week or less maybe once a month... don't drive it much.

Thanks
Rod

since you don't drive it much...you could always send the LH out to get in tested...

You've got 3 '87's in your sig- how often does the red one die? If it's relatively frequent, why not just swap an LH out of one of the others that doesn't die? Or you could just carry a spare around until it DOES die, and then swap it out and get the dead one fixed.

No man should own just 1 928......

I thought about just doing that this winter when I can't drive it at all. Of course you have no idea what that means, do you?

It's the one from Stockton.

I just thought perhaps someone had a similar experience and could lend insight.

What the hell is going on with all the 87 928s on this board? Did I start something with my car crapping out and hex everyone?

Does it run ok otherwise? Mine was randomly dying, sometimes surging a lot. It ended up being the connector to the O2 sensor. I replaced the lame universal connector with some real crimps and it works awesome.

Nope, it just runs like a charm and then dies. No warning, no other symptoms. Starts right back up, so.... I've got to switch out the relays as suggested and then drive it for some time to see if that's what it might be.

Thanks

Just curious if you ever had problems re-starting after the engine is still hot?

Nope, other than this occasional complete stop, it seems to run perfectly.

It's done both. No predictablility, and it does it so seldom, it's hard to see any pattern. I've yet to switch the relays, any recommendations on which to try first. I hesitate to do both at the same time, because that won't isolate the problem.

If it's any comfort, it is very rare for an LH ECU to fail intermittantly in terms of your sudden cutout of the engine.

Could it be one or both of the ignition modules goes south?
