Default Puzzling Hood Light Behavior

When I had the car at the RennShop in Santa Clara, recently, the owner and "Porschologist" Marvin pointed out to me that when the hood light switch gets depressed, the hood light does not turn off entirely. Instead, it keeps glowing a bit.

Having had a broken hood light switch before, I decided to get another new one and plug it in. To my big surprise that changes... well... NOTHING!

So, despite the new hood light switch, the light keeps glowing when it should be off.

How in the world can it get power with its intended power source interrupted by the switch???

I have no other electrical issues with the car - everything works, including the alarm.

I have not done anything more with mine since. But I'll get back to it someday.

Thanks! I had not seen the first, and fogotten about the second thread you linked to.

I did not replace the switch initially, because when I tested then, the light went completely off. Not today when I cleaned the car, so I finally swapped it, with no result.

I'm closing this thread, so we can keep the information in the other threads.
