We also switched the computers out of my other 928, no change in running condition. We are swapping fuel pumps and changing the filter (again) right now. If that doesn't work we are changing the plugs (again).

is there anyway to release fuel pressure on these cars? Like on the 944 you just pull a relay and crank it a few times and fuel pressure is released.

Changed fuel filter (new) and fuel pump. Did not help.

Same, pull the relay or pull the fuse. For an '87 it looks like relay XX or fuse 42-- there should be a fuse/relay chart on the CE panel cover, or check 928gt.com, or the WSM.

When you were swapping ignition wires around, did you also swap the wire that connects coil to distributor?

Thanks yes I did swap the coil wires as well. Plus all these wires tested good on my other 928.

Update: We found out that the rear driver side cylinder is not firing all the time.

Found out the problem!! No COMPRESSION in rear cylinder...... major bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! off to have a beer

note: also in a early post i said I have checked all the cylinders for compression. It was a buddy that was helping me and he later admitted he didn't do them all.

Wow, sorry to hear that!! (The compression, not the beer )

But do you mean "no compression" like zero psi, or just poopy compared to the others? Sometimes a bit of carbon will get stuck under a valve and show as low compression, until you get some fast-moving air through the valves.

What's the history? Any reason for problems with that cyl?

Thanks I appreciate it! Definitely a big let down after working on her for about a year! I'm already feeling better though !

Yea 0 psi nothing zilch nada.. I wish i had some compression. Its always had an excellent service history. The problem was a piece off the throttle butterfly valve broke off and went into that cylinder.
