Default 81 928 not starting...

hey guys, i just picked up an 81 928 and i need some help. I first wanted this car when my brother came home with it about 10 years ago. the car ended up being sold to a friend and i just bought the car back and now am dying to drive my childhood dream car.

so this is the situation... i have spark.. i have replaced the fuel pump, filter, fuel pump relay, and fuel injector relay.. i slightly loosened the fuel rails and i have fuel all the way up to the injectors.. car isnt starting tho.

i put fuel directly into the vaccum line off the distributor value and the car starts right up but once that fuel burns up it shuts off.

any help would be greatly appreciated! look forward to entering the world of the porsche family... thanks again guys

* if anyone has a tan interior for this car i would be interested.. the interior is pretty beat up.

Car wouldn't run at all with a bad green wire. I would consider a bad fuel regulator or dampener.

Use a cheap noid light (<$5) to confirm your injectors are not firing. Pull the connector off the L-Jet controller and check power and grounds, and confirm you're receiving pulses from the ignition box. See https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...r-pin-out.html

The green wire is, well, green, and it runs from the distributor to the near the 14 point connector under the hood by the hot post. A bad wire can cause many perplexing symptoms.

Here's a link to your fuses/relays: https://www.928gt.com/t-81fuse.aspx You might want to double-check that you put the correct relay in the correct spots. Substitutions don't work well for the relays you replaced. The previous owner of my car caused me all sorts of grief by using incorrect relays.

Well my green wire isn't green on the outside it was however green on the inside. The outside was lite brown I believe. If it's a green wire problem it will not run with the gas put in the vacuum line.

Jason, perhaps your green wire is brown due to all of the dust in the air created as the Texas Longhorns crushed OK State tonight.

You might be right Chris except for the fact that the dust was caused by OU knocking the air out of Kansas state tonight

still no luck guys.. i went out and picked up the noid lite and i am getting a signal at the injectors. its a pulsating dim signal tho it doesnt appear very strong. is this normal?

this means my fuel injector control is working correct?

I also tried running the car with that vaccum line in a container of fuel, hoping the injectors if clugged would clear up. no luck tho.

what do you guys recommend next?

thanks again in advance..

What relay are you using for the fuel injection relay? It is a specific relay, not generic. I had a similar issue with my '83. Once I replaced the relay, it started right up. YMMV
