I'm doing some cleaning around the engine bay today and took off the fuel rail covers.
On my previous 1988 S4 the foam around the fuel rail was in such a crumbly state that I removed all of it during an intake job.
On my 1991 S4 the cover is integrated with a kind of rubbery substance which is still completely intact and feels pretty supple. The p/n (928.110.117.00 for lhs) is same as in the 91 PET which I always used for the old car, so it's interesting that it seems to be same p/n as the old car would have had?
I had read that GTS introduced rail covers with integrated foam, but I never knew S4s had them too, assuming mine are original which I believe they are from service records.
Anyone know when the design of the rail covers changed? Just curious, and interesting how parts were continuously improved in the Porsche way.
