Default AC Vacuum Pump at Harbor Freight

On sale for Halloween (? ... whatever) for $150.
Which becomes $120 with the 20% coupon in the back of Autoweek.

Looks like it could pay for itself the first time.

I usually miss something - what is it this time?

I have the smaller vacuum pump that was $80 or so on sale. It works quite well, I used it with the HF R134A manifold gauge set. On that set the R134A fittings are adapters, there is an R12 connector on the hoses, so it worked for my R12 system. The scale is wrong but no big deal.

Seems like the usual many brands of the same pump, surprising the small HF got some good reviews, and I think the larger one is a FJC pump actually seems cheaper from some normal tool sources, but not by much.

I've seen good brand used pumps in CL for $50, so that might actually be the best way to go. Test whatever you get, if it pulls a vacuum, it pulls a vacuum.
