Well, I had hoped to see Bill on the weekend, but it might not happen. They moved him to a different unit where it's more noisy and he has trouble resting. He seemed weak today, and got a blood transfusion. He will not be ready for any visitors for another day at least.

I hope this is just a little bump in the road to his recovery. As soon as he is ready, I will print out this thread and take it to the hospital.

Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!

Did he get a three-angle grind and what are the flow numbers?

And was any head porting done?

(get well soon!)

Any insights as to what sort of valve work was done? Was one of them replaced or just repaired? Did it involve use of mechanical or pig valve?

Just curious about these things. It is truly amazing what is done these days.

Is it too early for part requests?

Did they check crank end play? (I have no idea what that means in a human body )

Get well soon Bill! Your presence is requested here and I imagine in a lot of garages!

Bill,

If they cut your sternum, you really have my sympathy. I had bypass in 1990 and it really hurts for a while.

Take it easy for a LONG while. The 928s can wait. You will be fine when you get all 8 cylinders running.

I just got word that Bill is doing better today. I now plan to visit him tomorrow.

This was a very difficult decision for him. But he did his research, and ended up going with a mechanical valve.

One of the concerns about a mechanical valve was that some of these make noises that keep recipients from sleeping.

The pig valve, on the other hand, is not estimated to last long enough for Bill's life expectancy. Risking another such surgery at age 70+ didn't seem like the best idea.

I'm sure, Bill will explain this in more detail once he's able to.

Tell Bill 'The Gang' said 'Hi.'

Don't those valves use titanium.
Hope it don't go clop clop klop clop on him.

Think those use rechargeable batteries that use inductive charging to a loop buried under his skin.
Ask Alan for any electrical issues.

Very best of wishes, Bill!

Hoping and praying for a full and speedy recovery.

I presume you told your surgeon to:

Oh... And this will buff right out.

Now he'll have that sexy scar down the middle of his chest.

When can he start having yummy favorite foods again. (mild cholesterol fare if that's what's mandated)
