Default Auto Trans Rebuild Project. Broken Case Question

Am deep-in.
Have 84 auto trans disassembled.
Needed parking pawl and reverse frictions.

Case had a break after being hit by the parking pawl and it looks more strategic and scary then I originally thought.

Can any of you metal repair guys conceive of a way to fix this?
Or am I going to be hunting a rebuildable case?

Good question. Some people have mentioned using Transtar to supply the needed rebuild parts.

A good welding shop can weld a chunk of new materal to it but then it will have to be machined or carefully filed down by hand, then drilled and tapped. I have done something like this to a waterpump (idler port broke off) many years ago and the punp is still working.

Just make sure there in no additional damage or crack in the case.

BUT if you can get your hands on a good used case, go with that.
