i think i have found the problem to all my little gremlins once and for all.

I after studying the wiring diagrams i saw that power comes off the battery on 2 main lines...one goes into the CES at U12..the other at U11. from there the power is fed to terminals 30 on both the LH and EZK relays.

On the LH, prior to reaching terminal 30 the power is branched off and fed OUT the CES on connector W22. Remember this "W"

from W22 it is split again and one wire feeds the main power to EZK pin 35(EZK permanent positive)...the other to LH pin 4(LH permanent positive)

power that comes out of the EZK realy XVI at pin 87 also travels to the "W" connector. At pin W14 the power splits ...power to EZK 29(ezk power supply) and LH35(Power fed from EZK )

another W connector is W23. this has 3 branches to it. 1 feed power to LH9..another feeds the coding plug....the last one feeds MAF pin 2

I pulled my floor board out and proceeded to check all my fuses and relays( double checking that the EZK..LH..and relay X and fuel pump had all been replaced....they have)

I then got down to the main connectors on the lower part of the fuse panel. I started at the left and worked my way right..checking and pushing in on each plug.

Well wouldn't ya know it...i get to the last one. PLUG W....the one that has all these critical functions on it, hmmm... doesn't appear to be fully seated. The top half of the plug was tipped back a bit. Not much, but enough where when i pushed on it, it definitely moved in. There are some pretty high loads and critical voltages sent through this connector.

Granted, somehow my cranking fuel map was way off. I don't know how that happend...but its fixed. But as you have seen in the oither posts i was still getting some weird non starting issues. Bad voltage display...injector pulse widths in the 12ms on cranking...100load on the MAF...on some attempts i would have what appeared to be a "dead" EZK...then on another start attempt it appeared to be a dead LH....then on another attempt all was normal and the car fired right up!

In a nut shell....................

Wait for it.........................

I blame Dubya

and with that this thread goes down hill!!

seriously, i think i have nailed this ba$tage down this time. I have driven the car the past 2 days. (with out the ST hooked up BTW) and it starts every time. (still need to tweak the cranking map) but it starts.

The slight surging i was picking up on acceleration appears to be caused by neighboring cells on the fuel map being too far apart in value. I have manually tuned those and the problem appears to be gone.

The occasional miss i think i can attribute to this bad connection.

In short i had a few things going on at the same time which was leading me down the path of all kinds of trouble shooting.
Ive had my SMAF checked/recalibrated by John...i got a loaner EZK from Gio...i swapped ignition control units...installed new relays..checked grounds...new battery..swapped temp sensors...and other nit-noid things.

It appears to be a bad connection at the W plug and a tune that was in need of adjustment.
So..as the car sits tonight, i think all is well.
(now that i have jinxed it)

If the Shrine was around, i would send in a "W plug"

My PRND32 lights sill don't work...but i think thats an issue in the pod now, one that i will address later when i do the lighting.

For those that chimed in through all this, THANKS!
This is truly a great community.
