Default Jonezing for a 86.5 5 speed

I going to be putting my 93 GTS up for sale shortly I want to replace it with my all time favorite, an 86.5 manual.

In a perfect world I would find somebody with a perfect car with low miles willing to trade his ride plus cash for my toy. I have a weakness for Meteor-metallic but am open to other colors.

This is pretty close to you, isn't it? Might get lucky with the .5, although '85 and '86.0 5-speeds are lighter = quicker.

There is one here in the PacNW for sale...86.5..white with black interior, no sunroof, engine rebuilt by Devek a few years back..overall in very good shape but I didn't do a total PPI on it. Not sure on how many miles he has on it..but he wants a lot though...$17Kish. It's listed in the new Panorama...

86.0 :-(

Some paint damage to the roof and stored last 5 years. $7500 seems a bit high.

Yep, Carl's 928. It looked very nice when I saw it at the Park Place gathering a couple of years ago. With no sunroof, its quite rare. I can't remember if it had rub strips, but I believe it does not. He told me that he looked for this car for 6 years before he bought it.

Here's Carl's email he sent to the pacnw928 list back in May:

1986.5 928S,5-speed, grand prix white,black interior,cold a/c,4 piston caliper brakes,completely rebuilt engine by DEVEK 10,000 miles ago-108,000 miles,with ported heads,new mass air sensor,throttle position switch,idle stabilizer,engine sensors,fuel injectors,distributor caps and rotors,spark plug wires,coils,fuel pressure regulator,fuel pressure dampers,fuel pump,fuel pressure gauge,hoses,ceramic coated intake,stainless steel X-pipe,high flow catalytic converters,all clutch parts with intermediate plate,clutch master cylinder,clutch slave cylinder,koni shocks,eibach springs.Interior like new,exterior like new.It was in the Porsche display at the Sept.2008 Kirkland concours d'Elegance.I have receipts since the car had 30,000 miles on it.$17,000.OBO

/\ /\ /\ /\ Wot he said.

Are they coming out of the woodwork? Or am I just noticing 5-speeds, now?

Here is a (86.0 manual in Jersey), but the lister thinks serial# below 1000 makes it a '86.5.

They've been getting some recognition. I stumbled upon my 86.5 5 speed Meteor-metallic thru pure luck. A neighbor of mine was chatting that he had this car for sale he's had for a while tucked away. When he told me what it was, I was hooked. The rest is history. I didn't get to drive it much this summer due to the fact I'm in Dubai till December. When I get back I do have a few winter projects to complete and will enjoy next summers driving season. I love the OB style with the Gucci trimmings. She is a Canadian model with 125,000K KM.

My '86 had it too, but it is much better with the larger brakes.

As far as Meteor Metallic, I can take it or leave it, of course mine has bad paint so I'm a bit biased. Mine has 5 speed tranny with limited slip but instead of having the 2.20 rear end it was fitted with a '86 Euro final drive with 2.72. It also has Sport seats! Had a long hub steering wheel that I donated to Porken. It came with worn out koni shocks and sport springs. Since I've had it I have added a 930 Sport wheel, GTS shifter ****, H4 headlights, electric (spal) fans, an intake/vacuum line/breather line refurbish with a new water pump/timing belt and a bit of powder coating. Just need to finish it and put it on the road... then decide if I want to keep it or no...
