Getting to the vacuum spider
I replaced my heater valve yesterday and in the process knocked two black vacuum lines lose. One was to the EZF Control unit, and the other was to the fuel pressure regulator. Both lines should connect to the spider according to the diagrams I've seen, but the spider is so buried under other stuff, I'm having a hell of a time getting to it. I have the line from the control unit plugged back in, I think, but can't see or get to the spider well enough to plug in the other.
Do I need to remove the MAF?

You need to pop out the MAF. Even then, it's not easy to get all those oily dirty lines back in without popping off the others.

Wow, what a pain. My back will never be the same. The MAF easily, maybe too easily, came out of it's socket and after an hour or so of effort, I finally got all the lines hooked up, put it all back together and still have the same harsh shifting. So harsh it's not drivable.
I didn't mention earlier that one of the short hard plastic lines fell down under the engine and I could never find it, so I made a new one out of rubber hose with some hard plastic inserts at each end and it seemed like a good fit. I don't see why that would cause any issues.
Guess I need to tear back into it...

Ok, problem solved. Took another look at it and found that the hose feeding the spider had slipped off at the port, probably while I was working on it. Put it back and it's shifting right now.
