Ordered a gasket from Roger since nothing seems to be there.

I'm smelling raw fuel since filling up 2x in my new 928 sitting in it's small garage. I haven't been able to find any pics so I added 2, I assume I should be able to remove a rubber gasket from the upper portion of fuel filler if it had one correct? Nothing stuck in the cap either.

Maybe the hose on top of the tank is broken?
Or the gasket from the fuel sender under the cargo department!

Possible, I would think I would smell fuel in the interior if so? No fuel smell under the hood, passenger front fender or in the interior of the car. I had the fuel filter and fuel hoses ( engine area) replaced 500 miles ago when I spent a bunch on maintenance, I'll pull the rear cover off and check under there too. Hopefully it's as simple as the lack of gasket.

Babado I would pull the fuel pump cover off and look for fuel leaks.

NOTE Its also common for the transfer vent hose to get a perforation and rot out,
this is the hose that goes through the frame and attaches to body of the tank and the top of the filler neck.

The tank sender can also leak if the seal was not replaced,
or if a 944 sender was used and the vent port is not properly capped off with a plugged hose.

NOTE the new 944 senders have a rounded plug on that vent port,
WARNING this is not a satisfactory seal ,as the sender can be fully submerged if the tank has been filled.
NOTE if that cap should come off then the fuel will come out of the port, with a full tank expect to drain about 2.5 gallons.

Thank you everyone, very happy to say the fuel filler inlet gasket cleared up my raw fuel smell, crazy, but in makes sense.
