When did the 928 get brake ducts?

Porken's post sums it up - the competition package was mostly cosmetic (brake ducts on a 220bhp street car are not enhancing anything).
I'm sure quite a few were upgraded with LSD. As for the S brakes......my 81 now has S brakes. It didn't come that way from the factory

Excuse my ignorance, I’m still a newbie even though I’ve owned two 928s for nearly five years but what are S brakes?
My 82 appears to have floating caliper two piston brakes and spoiler with air ducts.
My 86.5 has fixed caliper four piston brakes with spoiler and air ducts.
This is a great site, I’ve learned a lot but have a lot more to learn.
You’ve all helped me resolve several issues already. Thanks a bunch.

This applies to US cars, Euro specs are a bit different.
The big difference is not the caliper but the rotor size and vents in those rotors.
Your 86.5 has the third generation of brakes that came on the 928, commonly referred to as S4 brakes.

Hacker,
I agree that the 81 "competition package" seems to be cosmetic with the ad from 81 shown in this thread. I was mostly curious if the US 82 "competition package" was more of a spring board to the 83 928S and it contained more features. It doesn't sound like it though.
I appreciate all the comments on this matter.

The front spoiler is used with the two trim grills that are cut into the front the from bumper cover that is the brake air inlet. Behind that is a square duct that moves the air back toward the brake. To make room for the duct they used much different fender supports than the none spoiler cars. Note however that MANY MANY (wife's 79 ) had spoilers added way back when you could make your 78 model 928 LOOK just like an NEW 1986 just by hanging on some trim......

I did not see the difference in the catalog for the fender support but this is a very good piece of information to confirm. Is the non brake duct fender support able to be modified or would you have to have the new style support?

I've got an 82 comp package, has the brake ducts, front and rear spoilers, what I believe are S brakes, the Bilstein green n gold shocks. The original option stickers have been taken off () so I don't know what all it came with. It has the full leather treatment on the inside, so I'm wondering if it has the LSD in it since it seems to be pretty optioned out. where are the stampings I'd be looking for to find this out?
