Default Quick estimate.

First, I'm not really good with cars at all..so with that out of the way be gentle if it's something idiotic but with that in mind, I have a 1985 5 spd 928 S and it would not start today. The battery is not dead, and it just sorta 'clicks very loudly' when I try to start it. Any ideas on what it could be and how much it'd cost me at the shop?

The battery may not be dead, but what your describing sounds like it is very low. Easiest approach would be to try jumping it.

yeah, but if you try that make sure you don't forget to jump from the jump post under the hood and not the battery itself.

Jumping not good for the brains. Try charging it overnight and also getting a $5 batter post brush. Sometimes just a poor connection is to blame. I have had to replace my negative battery strap for similar thing. There is/was a member selling some for about $30 2 years ago.

while your cleaning the battery posts and the ground connection, with the battery disconnected clean the hot post connections and the 14 pin connector pins with an eraser, fit a hot post cover if yours is missing.
Also check the fuses for corrosion clean them as well with the eraser and check the relay pins
