removing the headliner
I have a non-sunroof OB with a nasty warped headliner. I finally had my new headliner re-covered at a local upholstery shop, but I'm not sure how to get the old one out.
Do I just remove the screws in the front corners above the door and un-clip it from the roof? Or do I have to remove the A-Pillar trim and the B-Pillar trim and the trim around the doors?
Any tricks to removing the interior lights and visors?
I searched the site, but everything posted had to do with sunroof headliners...
Thanks in advance!

You're blessed, if you had a sunroof it would be nearly impossible to successfully get it out in one piee. You remove the visors and loosen the rear quarter tops with the screw and coat hanger and oh-**** handle if you have one(s). Make sure all screWs are out of the headliner and start prying with your hands (fingers) into the area at the door or windshield, and carefully find the press clips and push them down and out of their holes (they stay with the liner). a-PILLARS STAY IN.

Thanks, Heinrich. That's exactly what I needed! I've been dying to put the new recovered headliner in. Mine is so warped at the windshield and the hatch, it gets in the way of your outward vision.

We can keep this thread going with tips and tricks on removing a sunroof headliner as well...
Any tried and true methods from those that have done this many times... to keep it in one piece?

Brian - what made the headliner warp in the first place. Water leaks around windshield or rear hatch? Sounds like it got wet at some point.

I'm not sure. It was like that when I bought the car 7 years ago. I haven't seen any water leaks, but I'm planning to check the hatch hinges when I get things apart. I read that the sealant that Porsche used for the hatch hinges drys out over time, so I'll re-seal if necessary. I'll also check the windshield. Its the original glass, so I guess anything is possible with 30 year old seals.

there is also sealant in the hatch seal it would be best to remove the seal and scrub it then put some new sealant into the groove then install it. Let the seal sit in the sun for a few hours to reform itself, be careful with the seal around where the wire harness passes through.
You will find it easier to work on the seal with the hatch visors and front trim removed, also remove the inside light, disconnect the battery first
