A bead of silicone around the perimeter of the base gasket should do the trick. Just make sure that the silicone doesn't interfere with the chassis ground of the threaded stud & nut so that reception is secured.

The one I put on my car had a similar rubber gasket, but with the tiniest little ridge running around where the roof hole is, and it has not leaked.

Not trying to undercut you GAZ (I'm not going in auto parts export business), just pleased to find we're paying less for once, and from a store we nickname Halfrauds as its merchandise isn't notably keenly priced.

WOW! That's a fraction (as in less-than-half) of what I paid for the converters from the only place in the US I could find them!

Maybe there is one lonely converter hanging on an auto parts or audio store display rack somewhere, but I didn't find it.

I may try it without silicone sealant first and see if it leaks over time. I'm reluctant to put sealant on as will make future removal harder/risk paint damage as well as get squeezed outside of the base and need cleaning up before it dries.

Not to worry, silicone sealant will not harm the paint and once dry, removes quite easily by peeling off.

Come to think of it, some of that ceramic tile leftover from that toilet job may come in handy as a good ground insulator, just in case your new aerial gets struck by lightening.

Is there a standard source yet for the adaptor that connects a new antenna to the existing amplifier?

Randy,

A few years back, I had good success at getting a new amplifier section and a couple of different mast (regular and a short stubby) from Enfig's: http://www.enfigcarstereo.com/

It's possible that Stefan at SWStereo in S. Carolina might be helpful: www.swstereo.com
