Hi Everyone,
Does someone have a couple of screw/washers for the front spoiler on a 1988 S4? Here is the diagram of the parts I need.
It would be nice to get a couple of them, I am not sure how many are missing, one for sure, maybe two screws/washers are needed. I might even need the clip (item #12) as well. I can pay by Paypal if needed.
Thanks,
Joe Taylor

You should be able to pick up the same or very near the same size screws and washers at a Hardware store or in Stainless at a Marine Chandlers. The speednuts/spire clips may be require a bit more searching, try an Auto parts store.
Worth noting - most metric screws are still actually imperial sizes translated to metric. 4.8x19 = 3/16" by 3/4" long.

Hi Jon,
Thanks, you were right about the metric/english sizes. Found a web page confirming what you said:
http://www.stf-fasteners.com/product.asp?code=222
Turns out they call the 3/16" screw a #10 screw and Home Depot had an ample supply of hex headed #10 hex head screws. The screw and washer combination that worked just fine.
Very Truly Yours,
Joe Taylor

Cool glad it worked out simply.
I've never got my head around what relationship a #10 or #12 etc screw has to inches.
All the other numbered things like pipe sizes or reinforcement bar sizes relate to 1/16" or 1/8" of an inch.

Hi Jon,
Me too, I had no luck looking up screw sizes, I couldn't find 3/16". Looks like above 1/4" sizes are in inches, 1/4", 3/8", etc. and below that size, the screw sizes are in numbers, #8, #10, etc.
Finding a chart that laid the relationship out helped.

I just re-installed mine with all new hardware. If you have any Ace Hardware stores near you they have all the clips, washers and bolts you could ever need. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to have a little strap metal to extend the reach of stripped out or broken holes on the spoiler. Depends on how hard you are on the spoiler when driving/parking, e.g., how many rubs/hits it's taken.
