Don't be shy about polishing your paint. Older Porsche paint can look amazing after polishing. Here's a couple of shots of my car from this weekend. It's been polished a few times to get it to this point.

I paid a pro $200 to de-swirl, polish, and wax my GTS. It has original paint and I didn't want to f-bomb it up trying to learn how to detail paint. It looks great.

OK bit of research indicates that the "new" clay bars are not clay at all.....they have been made nearly idiot proof to avoid paint removal much as car polish has had the abrasives removed so it is clear coat safe. I am used to using the old school rubbing and polishing compounds with a big powerful buffer And yes the new water based paints seem to be a lot softer and less durable you see many 5-8 year old cars and trucks with the paint falling off.....I know I am officially an old fart !
