Hi, just curious if anyone has had issues running the sharkplotter software on Vista?
I keep getting an error 'floating point division by zero' and cannot see the AFR plot (dots)
Any insight appreciated.

Is this Vista/x64 or the regular 32-bit version?
It may be something with your log files. Can you please send me one of the offending files?
(Send it to "support at sharkplotter dot com").
Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,
I have the regular 32-bit version of Vista...
It won't be one of the log files, as the error comes up as soon as the licensing/version window disapears....
Click 'OK', then some of the functions make the window reappear (eg 'new plot'), trying to resize the sharkplotter window also makes it reappear...
I tried uninstalling to start over, but it seems, somehow my computer has stuck the .ini file somewhere other than in the sharktuner folder... time to go hunting...

For Vista, if it is not under Program Files then it will either be under "ProgramData" or in a "VirtualStore" folder (see note below). To look for the "VirtualStore" folder, open Windows Explorer, "Computer", then C-drive, Users, your user-name, AppData, Local, VirtualStore, then "Program Files", then "Sharktuner".
You can also try right-clicking the Sharkplotter icon and selecting "Properties", then "compatibility" and select "XP-compatibility". Vista should then stop hiding the ini-file. Alternately get into Windows control panel, user accounts, and turn "User Account Control" (UAC) off, turns off the nag-messages (except the one about UAC being off) and stops playing "hide-the-file".
Note: Windows does not like to show the contents of system folders: Open Windows-Explorer's "Tools" menu, "Folder Options". Click the "View" tab, and check "Show hidden files and folders", NO check for "Hide file extensions for known file types", NO check for "Hide protected operating system files" (and click "Yes" to the confirmation). This will show all files, and also show file-extensions.

Thanks for the help Jim,
I found everything to delete and then re-installed the program, but it has the same error...
Looks like I have to buy one of those new 'mini laptops' with windows 7, just to have in the car for tuning![Big Grin](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
This is now beyond my computer skills to try and work out what is wrong... Vista has always been pretty good at finding ways to p%¤s me off!
I'll look into it some more tomorrow...
Thanks again.

In tuning, just be mindful: I did a lot of tuning on the freeway to get a sense of where the car wanted to be at cruise. It created a few cells where the car wasn't happy about going stoplight to stoplight without jerking. But then I did some logs driving around the suburbs and tuned those cells....in open loop mode. Then when you set everything to closed loop, it's something the LH can handle all day long.
My car right now is in a verrry happy place. Not perfect. But a lot closer than it has been, ever. Only after 7 or so years...
For the money, I think I would've been happier in a 996 turbo. Or at least would've spent more time driving it.

The second issue is to be sure that the correction numbers vary smoothly over the map, with no big "peaks" and "valleys"-- particularly with changes in load. That is, going up and down each column with changing load, the changes in map values should be smooth. Moving across a row-- with changing RPM-- there may be larger changes because of resonance.
Here's an example for folks who maybe haven't seen this. This is our 90GT, which is running very sweetly but still has some oddities in the fuel map which need tuning. (It always needs tuning). This is a plot of about 45 min's worth of log files, driving the country roads around here. The color is AFR, red and purple lean, yellow is rich. The vertical scale is load (MAF signal), the horizontal scale is RPM. The numbers are the LH correction map values. This was all open-loop (ST's "force no-cat" selection), NBO2 sensor was being ignored.
Take a look at the yellow box: That is a low-RPM, high-load area that rarely gets visited. But I pushed down the throttle at 1500 RPM just to get some log data. It needs to be richer, and looking down the 1600 RPM column you can see some goofiness-- I am guessing that that whole region should be in the +30/40 range, not swinging between +60 to -7.
Another seldom-visited area is outlined in blue, high-RPM and lighter loads. There is always lots of data at WOT, but you need to tune the lighter-load cells also. (At higher altitude the load numbers will be lower). And those cells here are clearly goofy, going from +50 to -40. SP won't fix it without data, but it is easy to fix manually.

Now here's the "after" picture, after telling SP to adjust the LH map so that the AFR would match our target map (14.7 in the lighter-load areas, down to 13.1 in the higher-load cells). It added a bunch of fuel to the cells in the yellow box above. Is it correct? Probably not, that was the result of just one string of log points. But we'll copy it to ST and do some more testing in that area.
And there are still some screwy-looking numbers in the 5600-RPM column, but no-data no-tweak. I'll fix those manually and then do some less-than-WOT testing to redline. (Hard to do, the GT keeps whispering something that sounds like "harder, faster"). Well, maybe not whispering...

This is likely due to a precision issue in the code...
Jim, are you using 'double' or 'float' values?
[most compilers default float to 64bit IEEE precision]
eg, the values are getting small and thus are truncated.

Question on the LH MAP Adjust TAB
the small window that opens and says....
target AFR
Use target map
selected area
Entire map
adjust reset close
Perhaps I'm doing it wrong..but anyway. Let say i have an area i want to change the AFR on...lets say it is 2 rows high and 6 columns wide.
I highlight that area....then i make sure my target AFR is what i would like....
I select "target AFR"....."Selected Area"...then ADJUST.
from what i can tell it does indeed adjust that selected area but it also does the entire map? even when i have the "selected area" choice selected? I only want to adjust that 2x6 box i have highlighted/selected?
Also..in theory when i do this..the ADJUSTMENT map should still be all ZEROS except in that 2x6 box i selected. It doesn't appear to be the case?
Guidance?
edit. I just got it to work some how now. Perhaps its because i have transfered my Maps..log data etc to the desktop in a comfy chair upstairs in the loft. VERY COOL!
I'm sitting up stairs now just playing with it all...an old map and a bunch of logs and just manipulating things from one end of the AFR scale to the other to get a grasp on the features.
I like how you can expand the "time scale" at the boom then "down arrow'(move) through the run and see EXACTLY where you are on the map..with in a cell
Would it be possible in the future to add BOOST to the logging data as an option (Aux1..Aux 2 etc on the sharktuner). I already have mine set up to do so in the Sharktuner, but the Sharkplotter obviously isn't design to "read" it at this point. I think it would make it convenient to see what cells are under boost...and even what level of boost...and what kncoks occur etc. A simple background shading of a cell in..a different color would help it stand out.
Just and idea i thought of.

Is that from a turbo'd SAAB, Andrew ? You will need a sensor to go to 2 Bar absolute if you're running at 15psi or so...
I am sure Jim could add that feature to SharkPlotter, time allowing of course.
We are working on the MAP version of ST-Alpha at present. First cicuit board is done...... a donor car is lined up.....

I'm working on this right now. Hacker got me an old MAP sensor out of a SAAB that he got for like $5 from a Pick 'n Pull. Then I have a a voltage regulator from RadioShack that regulates it to 5v output. In theory, I should be able to hook this up to the STer and have it record boost along with my other data. Now if only I could get my TT repaired...
